Shipley Nunnalllee Lowry

Mary A Shipley 93 Nowata OK passed from this life early Monday
morning August 19, 1996 at the Nowata Nursing Center
She was born at Braggs, Indian Territory, January 16, 1903 to
Walter and Jennie B Nunnalllee Shipley. She lived in Nowata
County since she was an infant Mary began her nursing career
at the Nowata Hospital when it was located in the Savory Hotel in
the mid 1940s. She was on the original staff when the current
hospital opened in 1948. After retirement, Mary served as private
nurse to Mrs. J Wood Glass from 1969 to 1983
Mary was a member of the Nowata Church of God ( commonly
known as the Independent Holiness People)
She is survived by one son Bill Lowry and his wife Pat of
Oklahoma City, Okla.; a host of relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Bill
Lawrence, John and Clarence Shipley one sister, Maude Shipley
Parrett She was laid to rest at the Martin Cemetery Northeast of
Childer OK

Cleo’s Nature Trail’s%20Nature%20Trail.htm

Local resident Pappy Swayne (1887-1976) created what has become a conglomeration of historical museum, botanical gardens, animal farm, and religious arena. After Pappy’s death, his widow, Cleo, took over operations and has since added an Upon entering the “museum,” visitors will encounter numerous birds strutting around, lizards, squirrels, and a swan-filled pond. Moving ahead, a nature trail loops through a forest dotted with gnome statues, past Pappy’s grave, and to a prayer garden

Lucy HILL Hieronymus

Lucy Hieronymus, the last of the original church at 107 School House, passed
away May 23, 1974 at the age of 95 years
Lucy A Hill was born May 2, 1879 in Osage City Kansas, the daughter of Charles
and Arline Goodsell Hill (We knew her mother as Dora) Lucy was thier only child.
On November 29, 1899 she married James P Hieronymus who preceeded her in
death They were the parents of nine children. The surviving children are
Theodore of Spokane Was., Ervin of Lewiston Idaho, Orpha Trugillo of Wichita
Kansas, Mary Lyon Folmsbec (Folmsbee) of Madras Or and Margaret Workmand Hill of
Antelope Or. also Survivng are 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and
3 great great grandchildren
She and her husband and children were the youngest family of the original church
atfer things settled down Papa said they seemed more like his own children
She passed away at Margaret’s, in Antelope Or. Interment was in Pleasant Ridge
Her daughter Orpah sent the obit in to the Church in 1979 but Rosa B Goodrick
added some I left some out. The paper is “The Church Advocate and Good Way”
